counseling intensives

A focused, extended approach to therapy

Counseling intensives are structured, extended sessions designed for individuals, couples, or families who want to move beyond the pace of traditional weekly therapy.

Instead of spreading work out over many weeks, intensives allow you to focus on a specific issue or set of challenges in a single, longer session- creating space for deeper insight, clarity, and meaningful momentum.

These sessions are grounded in clinical counseling and tailored to your specific needs, goals, and current life circumstances.

Why choose an intensive?

Traditional therapy is designed for gradual, ongoing progress over time. For many people, that structure works well.

However, some individuals prefer or benefit from a more concentrated format.

Intensives may be a good fit if you:

Feel stuck or overwhelmed and want focused progress
Have limited time for weekly therapy sessions
Are navigating a high-stress or time-sensitive situation
Want to work through a specific issue in greater depth at once
Prefer fewer appointments with more concentrated therapeutic work
Are seeking clarity, direction, or stabilization during a difficult season

How intensives are different from regular therapy

While traditional therapy typically involves 55-60 minute weekly sessions, intensives provide extended time- often 2 to 3 hours in a single session.

This longer format allows us to:

Go deeper without stopping and restarting each week
Identify patterns more quickly
Maintain emotional and cognitive continuity throughout the session
Develop clearer insights and actionable next steps in real time
Reduce the sense of “starting over” that can happen in weekly therapy
For many clients, this creates a more efficient and focused therapeutic experience.

Potential benefits of counseling intensives

Clients often choose intensives because they may offer:

Faster insight into core emotional or behavioral patterns
A clearer sense of direction and next steps
Reduced emotional stagnation between sessions
More efficient use of time for busy schedules
Deeper focus on a specific issue or transition
A sense of momentum and relief from prolonged uncertainty

Considerations (what to know before choosing an intensive)

Intensives are not the right fit for everyone.

They may be less suitable if you prefer:

Slow, gradual processing over time
Shorter sessions with space between appointments for reflection
Ongoing weekly therapeutic support for complex, evolving concerns
In some cases, a combination of intensives and traditional therapy may be the most effective approach.

Payment, HSA & FSA

Counseling intensives are private-pay services, ranging from $650-$750 depending on particular 3 hour intensive.

Many clients choose to use:

Health Savings Accounts (HSA)
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
In many cases, intensives may be eligible for reimbursement when they are provided as medically necessary counseling services. Clients are encouraged to check with their HSA/FSA provider regarding specific eligibility and documentation requirements.

A detailed receipt or superbill can be provided upon request.
